Sara Danielle Baker is 19 years old and works part-time as a pet nurse at Banfield's Pet Hospital while attending Santa Rosa Junior College full-time.  She plans to complete a degree in Biochemistry and then pursue medical school.  She graduated from Technology High School in 2006 – the first graduating class.

Sara has studied martial arts for years and is a black belt candidate in Tae Kwon Do.  In addition to being active in the online art community, Sara enjoys hanging out with her circle of friends, going to Bodega Bay, and spending time with her boyfriend of 3 years, Daniel Hattem.

Besides her sparkling blue eyes, she is known for her strength of person, persistent sense of humor, infectious laugh, and tendency to attack her friends with an unexpected bear hug.  She has a 16 year old brother, Michael, a 25 year old step-brother, Andrew, and a 15 year old cat, Dusty.

"Self Doodle"

This website is dedicated to Sara Baker and her recovery.

Sara was critically injured in a car accident on October 24th, 2007.  Hours later she suffered a debilitating stroke that normally kills 95% of victims. After being airlifted to UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, surgeons were able to remove the clot responsible for the stroke, but not reverse the damage already caused.  She was diagnosed the following day as having Locked-In Syndrome.

Locked-In Syndrome is a rare neurological state where a person is fully conscious and aware of their surroundings, with all memories and cognition intact, but without the ability to control all voluntary muscles except those for the eyes. Sara is only able to communicate via those eye movements.

This is her journey.
